Midwest Academy of Healing Arts
Overview
The Midwest Academy of Healing Arts is a professional massage therapy school in Indianapolis, Indiana. They came to SpinWeb with no current website or logo. Michael Reynolds (owner of SpinWeb) handed the project off to me and said that he wanted an award winning flash website, but to start by creating a logo.
Logo Design Process
MAHA stated that they wanted a dragonfly as their logo. I outlined a few dragonflies in Adobe Illustrator and finally got one I was happy with. I created a circle around it and I choose the color green which later laid the color scheme for the rest of the website. I wanted to give it a more 3D look for the website, so I added highlights and shadows to make it look more like a glossy sphere.
Website Design Process
After several mock-ups (that you can view below), we finally came up with the idea to have the website be a girls back. After all, this is a massage therapy school and the back is a key icon when it comes to art of massage. We wanted the website to be unique and we were pretty sure that no other massage therapy website has done this before. After the final mock-up was approved, I built everything out in flash. I used dynamic text for everything on the website so that it can be easily updated through simple text files.
